3 Months

This upcoming Wednesday my baby turns 3 months old.  Time flies when you are having fun.  She is the greatest little baby with such a personality.  We cant get enough of her chubby cheeks and chunky thighs.  We love you Evie.  

Like Father Like Daughter

Josh and Evie both have a hard time waking up from sleep.  It doesnt matter if it is a nap or after a long night sleep they can both be bears waking up.  It is fun to see how similar these two are. 

Evie-isms

1) She loves to talk.  She sat on my lap this weekend and just talked to me for about 30 minutes.  It is fun to hear her coo and I always wonder what she is thinking. 

2) She loves 2 toys right now the one that sits on the floor that she plays under and one that plays music. 

3) She is doing ok on tummy time…when mom remembers.  I play an old video of my niece Madelynn singing to keep her entertained.

4) She is tantalizingly close to rolling over.  She swings her legs up and throws them sideways.  Now if she could only get a little more momentum she would have it.

5) She got in the pool for the first time this week.  She is so chunky and buoyant that you really have to push her in the water to keep her legs from floating back up.  She loves the pool. 

6) Bath time is still a favorite.  She just started kicking in the water.  Yes, she still cries when we take her out.

7) Sunday morning she woke up a little early so I put her in bed with josh and I.  I was nervous so I blocked her in and slept lower on the bed.  When I woke up she had moved right next to me and our foreheads were touching haha.  She loves her momma.

8) She only likes women.  Still not a fan of men holding her.

9) We watched an animal show on Sunday.  Evelyn loved watching the animals move across the screen, so much that she fell asleep in Chris and Amanda’s lap. 

10) This girl can poop.  I’m so tired of cleaning poop off of clothes.  She holds it in until she explodes.  Who knew a baby could store that kind of pressure inside.

11) She has started going to bed by herself.  At night I feed her, we play for a few minutes, say good night to dad, then she goes in the crib and the lights go off.  She usually plays then in about 10 minutes is out.  I hope she keeps up this good habit. 

12) Evie went to the tennis courts for the first time last Saturday.  It was so fun to get back on the court, especially with this little girl. 

First Laugh

Yesterday Evie laughed for the first time.  I had her on her changing table and blew on her tummy then quickly popped up and smiled at her she then followed up with a big laugh.  It didn’t last very long, but it was there.   Josh and I tried so hard after that to get a repeat performance, but to no luck.  Big milestone.

Evie-isms

1) Evie laughed for the first time today.  It was small, but a definite laugh.  Im so proud to be the one to finally pull it out of her, and glad that Josh was there to hear it. 

2) She is sooooooo attached to me.  She does not like for Josh to hold her if she is trying to fall asleep, wake up, or a tad bit grumpy.

3) We went to the pool this week and she dipped her toes in.  At first she wasn’t a fan, mostly do to the water temp, but then she got used to it and loved it.

4) She slept for 7 straight hours.  It was a 1 time thing, but I was so grateful.

5) I just put away all of the clothes that don’t fit, and pulled out the new ones.  It makes me so happy to see her growing, but so sad to no longer have my newborn.

6) She has lost her newborn cry.

7) She loves playing with her toys.

8) She loves to sing along to Disney music.

9) She hates to nap.  She fights it so hard, and more times then not would rather skip it.  Would love for her to take a nap longer than 45 minutes.

10) She coos and talks quite a bit. 

11) She pooped on Josh’s shirt…welcome to the club babe.

12) She still sucks on her hands any chance she can get.

First Swim Day

Last week some friends and I decided to have a pool day with our kiddos.  It was a beautiful day to lay by the pool and I took full advantage.  Miss Evie slept in her car seat in the shade while I FRIED out in the sun.  Apparently I cant tan as well as I used to.  My skin skipped the tan phase and went straight to burned.  Oh well it was still a beautiful day.

Blessing Day

Today was Evies blessing day.  My parents and Josh’s parents were able to fly in to be with us.  The weekend started off great with the arrival of Dave and Janet.  Evie and I excitedly picked them up from the airport.  After checking them into their hotel and waiting for Josh to get done with school we went to Janet’s favorite restaurant Leo’s.  Miss Evie was too distracted to take a nap and very quickly into dinner became fussy.  I scooped her up put a blanket over her head to distract her and in a matter of seconds she fell asleep.  Poor girl always wants to be part of the party.  The next day we were back at the airport picking up my parents.  We were so excited to have the parents in town!  As soon as we got them checked into their hotel we were off to Rudy’s my moms favorite restaurant haha.  That night Josh and I eagerly got everything ready for a great Mothers Day, which included him going to 2 different grocery stores…Thanks babe.  In the morning the parents came over and we made a great crepe breakfast.  Evie and Josh surprised me with a gift card for Itunes, chocolate and a great card.  I love being a mommy and love my two babes!  We got ready and off to church we went, well kinda if Josh hadn’t swiped my house key!  Josh gave an amazing blessing.  In that moment I felt true love for my little family.  We are a family and Evie’s dad was giving her a beautiful blessing.  I was so proud of Josh and proud of Evie, who slept through the whole thing.  It was great to see her surrounded by so much love and support.  Thank you to all who participated in that special moment in her life.  Later that night we had a great dinner and played a fun game of Quiddler (Josh of course won).  It was one amazing weekend.

My mom made her blessing dress.  It is a treasure that Evie will pass on to her daughter one day.  

Evie-isms

1) We blessed Miss Evie on Mothers Day!  It was a beautiful blessing!

2) Had my first official Mothers Day.  I got an amazing card and Itunes giftcard from my cute hubby and daughter.  We also had our parents in town for the blessing which made this day really special. 

3) Evie has got major separation anxiety.  She freaks if I leave the room or if someone else holds her for too long.  She is only 2 months, which is too early to start this type of behavior. 

4) She loves to play with toys now.  We have a toy that she lays under and she loves to kick and hit the little animals that hang down.

5) We are doing great with breastfeeding…thank goodness.

6) She is only waking up once at night…most of the time.

7) She has graduated from her bath sling to a sit up bath tub!

8) She had her first round of shots last week.

9) She has graduated from the binki to her hand.  She loves to suck on all of her fingers. 

10) She is getting so good at holding her head up.

11) She smiles all the time.

12) She loves to Facetime or Skype with family while having tummy time.
13) She wont take a nap for longer than 45 minutes...ugh

We have one amazing baby! 

 

2 Month Well Visit

Today I took Evie to her 2 month well visit.  I knew it was going to be a hard appointment because she was getting her first round of vaccines.  Evie did great!  She screamed for about 1 minute then settled right down.  She was a trooper and got a clean bill of health from Dr. Coleman!  Way to go girl.

Weight: 13 pounds 4 ounces 96th percentile
Height: 23 1/2 inches 89th percentile
Head: 40 cm  79th percentile

Evie-isms

1) She finally will feed without the shield.  Wahoo! 

2) She had a massive blowout when my friends from work came by.  I was glad they were here to help me clean up.

3) She loves her binki and sucks on it so hard.  She has a hard time falling asleep without it.  Not so sure that it is a good habit, but if it gets her to sleep Im all in. 

4) She still loves getting in her carseat.  She smiles with delight when we go out to run errands.

5) Bath time is my favorite time of the night.  She loves the warm water and gets upset when it is time to get out. 

6) She wakes up in the morning wanting to cuddle.

7) She is growing out of three-month pjs.  The girl is just so tall!

8) She is talking and smiling more and more each day.

9) She gets scared when people sneeze.  I dont get it but its really funny.
