Valentines Day

Evelyn and I hit the road for St. George during Valentines Day Weekend.  It was 75 degrees and the Parade of Homes and I giggled with delight as I packed short sleeve shirts and shorts for us to wear.  Styler and Ashlin were also able to pull away from their studies to come down.  I love it when my siblings get together for one great weekend.  Pretty soon we will be living way too far apart.

The Parade of Homes was fantastic.  I was a little nervous that Evelyn was going to struggle with being held the entire time, but she did great.  The first house was not fun, she was fussy and wanted to play with all of the expensive furnishings, but after a quick pep talk the other homes went smoothly.  I was so proud of her.  My dad landscaped 3 of the homes this year.  He really has an eye for landscape design.  They were absolutely beautiful homes that were landscaped by a PRO.  After a little Pizza and salad from he great Pizza Factory poor E was done and crashed in the car ride home.  It was a beautiful day.

Evie-isms

1) She has been doing so many "big girl" things lately.  The most recent is climbing up the stepping stools and going down the big slide at the park.  She was so thrilled with herself that she clapped when she reached the bottom.
2) She has been making leaps and bounds when it comes to her aggression.  She use to get scared and hit other kids but now she has learned to say hi.  It's fun to watch her say hi to ALL of the kids at the playground.  Makes my heart sing.
3) If I ask her what color something is her response it always purple.
4) When she gets excited she likes to jump.  Her jumping consists of bending down and reaching up really fast, her feet don't actually leave the ground.
5) She has loved eating plain greek yogurt and fruit.
6) Today we had a hamburger from In-N-Out that she inhaled.  She was so hungry she didn't stop to breath as she scarfed it down.
7) In the car I gave her a toy that she thought was a camera.  The next thing I knew she was looking through it and telling her baby to say cheese.  It was so cute to listen to her repeat "baby cheese" over and over.
8) The other night she was sleeping in Ceri's bed.  I put her down and 9:00 and then when I went to bed at 10:30 discovered that she was STILL awake.  She was happy just laying in the dark playing with her hair.
9) She puts her arms around my neck and gives me the best hug and kiss when it's time to go to bed.

Big Girl Bed

Today Josh and I put Evelyn into a toddler bed.  She has been begging all week to sleep in our bed.  So, after a few nights in our bed we decided to convert the crib.  After she fell asleep I couldn't help but think about what a beautiful girl she has become.  Yes she has some aggression issues but in the grand scheme of things its just a drop of water in an ocean of wonderful traits.  She was so thrilled to be a big girl.  She had the biggest smile on her face.  I can't help but realize that she is growing up.  She has such a vivacious and loving personality.  She was thrilled to be treated as a girl and not a baby.  It made me a little sad, but also happy knowing Josh and I have raised a girl who looks forward to the next step.  It's an example to me that I need to not be sad my baby is growing up but happy that she is growing into an amazing girl.

Bath Time

Evelyn is obsessed with the bath lately.  She can stay in the bath for upwards of 45 minutes.

This girl likes to have lots and lots of bubbles in her baths.

Two cute cousins :) Wish they lived closer.

Evie-isms

1) Our little girl has the best expressions.  The faces that she can make truly make me think she is made of plastic.  Josh and I took her on our anniversary date and while there she was so goofy that we couldn't help but record it.
2) Today we left Jude's house and she cried most of the way home asking for hot him.
3) She has developed a horrible cough and runny nose this week.  Listening to her cough in the night is just heartbreaking.  Luckily, this cough has brought up a great teaching moment on how to cover your mouth.  She gets it about 20% of the time.
4) The last 2 nights when I ask her to go to bed she gets her blanket and gets on mine.  I was curious to see what she would do if I really left her on my bed.  I told her that she could sleep in my bed as long as she stayed there, if she got up she would go in her crib.  To my surprise, she stayed in bed!!!  She played for about an hour then fell right to sleep.  I was so proud of her.
5) Unfortunately she is still hitting others.  Ive learned that if I put her in a situation that keeps her from feeling threatened she does better, but not 100%.  I know that she feels threatened when other kids are around that are unfamiliar to her, but I can't always fix that.  Hopefully she grows out of this soon.
6) She has turned into a little chatter box.  She has added yes, blue, purple, yellow and hi to her vocabulary.  She loves to say hi to cars that pull up to us at stoplights.  I love her enthusiasm to welcome everyone :)
7) She is obsessed with babies.  She points them out WHEREVER we go.  She loves all sorts of babies real ones, dolls, babies in books, baby animals etc.  She loves to take her babies, wrap them up, feed them and put them to bed.
